Parallels Announces RAS Version 17.1

Parallels have announced the next version Parallels RAS 17.1, which will preview soon and launch this December. This update includes new Multi-tenant architecture features and supports SAML; provisioning options; Client Updates; and more.

Some of the new features include:

  • Multi-tenant architecture
  • Security Assertion Markup Language SAML SSO authentication
  • Extended Drag and Drop Features
  • Support for SQL 2017 and 2019
  • Provisioning and managing workloads on Microsoft Azure
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) support
  • And more!

Multi Tenant Architecture:

Parallels RAS’s new Multi Tenant Architecture provides a consolidated and a central management solution for running multiple customer or customer site deployments. The core benefits for this is that you can centralise core RAS infrastructure simplifying deployments and day to day management. Essentially the Parallels RAS tenant Broker allows you to isolate Parallels RAS farms and sites but at the same time, Tenants share the Secure Client Gateways and Front-End High available load balancers.

SAML SSO Authentication

The introduction of SAML SSO Authentication enables new sign-on capabilities without sharing the local identity database. This allows for new integrations with services like Azure Active Directory or other IDP providers like Shibboleth.

Parallels RAS will also introduce the RAS Enrolment Server (ES). This will communicate with Microsoft’s Certificate Authority (CA) to manage, enrol on behalf of the user. This will allow users to switch between published resources simply and without being prompted to re-enter credential vs reducing login times and improving the overall user experience.
